- Jane: The second youngest Penderwick sister, Jane is trying to write a new Sabrina Starr book about love.
- Batty: The youngest Penderwick sister, Batty has never been without Rosalind, and this summer, things will be a lot different.
- Rosalind Penderwick: Eldest sister. Vacationing in New Jersey.
- Alec: A man about Aunt Claire's age, he owns a house right next to where the Penderwicks are staying.
- Jeffrey: A boy that the sisters know very well and love very much. As a surprise, he comes to stay with them in Maine.
