“I let myself get drawn right into the story so I didn't think about it too much. I enjoyed the storyline and the mystery, it was something a little different and I paid no notice to any faults. Great read!

It was beautifully written, the story dark and mysterious, seeped in myths - but I just couldn't feel that.. connection I wanted to feel with Adam.
But overall, it's a good read and definitely worth a look if you enjoy a good mystery. ”
“God I loved this book! ”

The story takes place in 1958, when student Adam goes to Italy for his final year project. His professor has sent him to an old friend of his, Francesca Docci. She owns a manor house with a mysterious garden, dating from the 17th century.
Some of the details on how he discovers the secrets of the garden I found a bit boring, but the story is interesting in that he manages to find out what the garden designer really meant the garden to symbolize.
While staying at the house, Adam hears about an dramatic event that happened at the end of the second World War, upstairs in the house, and the reason why the third floor is now locked and never accessed.
There were some more story lines (such as his falling in love with a local girl and the visit of his brother Harry), and altogether they made this a good book to read. There was however less suspense than I had expected beforehand.”
“This book is beautifully written. I believe it will be a classic.”

Two mysteries: one from World War II, the other from the Renaissance. Plus romance!”
“As sad as I am, I took this on a holiday to Tuscany and was staying about 40 minutes drive from the setting of this book. Well, that's what it is, really, a good holiday read - well written, intelligent, and a good page turner.”
