Laugh out loud hilarious. My introduction to Nick Hornby, I've ready everything else of his after this and never been disappointed. At least as good as the movie, maybe better.

Oh, Nick Hornby. You're really the only one who was the exact same sense of humor that I do.

So, this is actually the last of Nick Hornby's fiction - I haven't read any of his nonfiction stuff yet, but I'm pretty sure I've finished all the novels? I know this one's the most famous and whatnot, so I suppose it's weird it's last.

But. I guess I just didn't find it as funny as usual? I mean, I definitely did, in places. Particularly the whole train station thing. But since I can really relate to Marcus'... life... I guess, his parents and principal and etc. just made me so mad. I couldn't even by amused by them, or sympathetic, because... GAH.

You know what though, Nick Hornby's still a fabulous writer, and this was still great. I loved Marcus' relationship with Will, all the stuff about Kurt Cobain (so funny and symbolicish all at once, haha) and the idea of 'it's better to have an extra person.' That's so true, and gah, I love Marcus. It made me sad that he changed at the end, same as Will.

My favorite thing about Nick Hornby's books is that they just keep going. There's no dramatic or coincidental ending, they're just lifelike. And that's awesome.

It's a very good book with a really interesting story. It kind of seems to progress slowly at first but towards the end everything feels to move really fast compared to the start of it. Having seen the movie first, I was expecting to read stuff I didn't know about, since from the beginning everything was really spot on. But, if you've only seen the movie, you have to read this book.

Anyone who's seen this movie knows it's a wonderful story of friendship and family. Nick Hornby is a pretty funny guy and knows how to make your eyes well up while making you laugh at the same time. Great story, great reading.

I do prefer the movie (come on, Hugh Grant and Nicholas Hoult), but the book is definitely worth a read, as is everything by Nick Hornby.

Great dialogue, witty, and will make you smile. Hornby does a wonderful job of tapping into the minds of an adolescent boy and a grown man. The movie adaptation isn't half bad either.
