Sequel to "Meg" ups the ante, sending survivors from the first book down to the depths that spawned the giant shark and a few other nasty beasties as well. (Hey, those big sharks had to have something to eat down there!) Steve Alten sets up a better plot and stronger characterization, but the suspense and sense of adventure never lags. Steve might never write an Oprah Book Club pick, but he is perfect for vacation reading and keeps getting better.
