Even when dealing with dark subjects, Hornby can be very funny!

I enjoyed this book immensely! Yes, it does have a darkness to it what with the topic of suicide but Mr. Hornby has a knack for making the tragic seem humorous at times. Take the heartaches in High Fidelity being converted to a top ten list as an example. The author just goes one step deeper and uses suicide as a humorous topic. I liked this

amusing writing. Very depressing book. Don't read it if you're particularly depressed yourself.....

I never thought I would laugh so much at a book about suicide. Hornby really seems to empathize with his four would-be suicides, who could not be more different from one another. It is definitely worth reading.

Personally, I liked it better than other Nick Hornby stuff I've read (High Fidelity or How to Be Good), because it is much more complex and better constructed, while absolutely hilarious. Can't wait to see the movie...
