“Team Good tries to thwart Team Bad's plan while Clary goes alone to find out exactly what Team Bad's plan is. Jace is a hilarious ass, Alec is an idiot, Isabelle is awesome and Maia & Jordan continue to be wastes of space.”Felicity F wrote this review Monday, September 16, 2013. Don't think I will read anymore in series. Not sure author knows how to round up and finish.
Donated to library”
“This book is really slow, but the main idea is that Clary finds her boyfriend but he has turned sides. ”julinpink wrote this review Tuesday, September 3, 2013. ( reply | permalink ) Was this review helpful? Yes | No
“This book was so good. I can't wait to read the next book (even though I have to wait a year for it). I was sad that Alec and Magnus broke up because of Camille's deal. I was so worried when Clary was with Sebastian and possessed Jace. When Clary stabbed Jace, that was surprising. I'm glad he's okay but now it seems he has like heavenly fire burning inside him. I can't wait to see what comes from this. ”Courtney J wrote this review Monday, September 2, 2013. ( reply | permalink ) Was this review helpful? Yes | No

“I had a friend that introduced me to this series and I'm really glad she did. Like many of the females out there, I'm a big Jace fan but this book also turned me into a big Simon fan. I've always loved Simon's character. He's the kind of friend any body would want to have by their side, but this book really caused me to become one of his biggest fans.
I have really liked the series as a whole. Some of the other books made me nervous because there were times where it felt like the storylines were meshing together and it was repeating itself. But this book really introduced you to Clary and Sebastian, brother and sister, and helped you to understand their characters as a whole.
With any good series that has that hero mentality, the good guy wins, the bad guy somehow always returns another day, and the story continues. Can't wait to see what comes next!”
“A great 5th book to the series, although it definitely left me wanting more. Now, on to the Infernal Devices Trilogy!”Danielle wrote this review Sunday, August 11, 2013. ( reply | permalink ) Was this review helpful? Yes | No
“After 5 books, the impediments in Clary and Jace's relationship are really starting to feel a little too forced, I'm afraid. While still an interesting enough read, the characters are starting to lose their appeal. I'd still recommend the first three books, but I think I'd stop there for a complete, satisfying story.”EvilKipper wrote this review Friday, August 9, 2013. “** spoiler alert ** I was so nervous going into City of Lost Souls because the ending of City of Fallen Angels left everything in such a chaotic state. I wasn’t sure I wanted to know what happened without being able to finish the series right away.
I adored City of Lost Souls. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time. It adds so much to The Mortal Instruments series.
I didn’t think anything could top the anxiety of Clary and Jace thinking they were brother and sister, but I was wrong. This book was so much harder for me to swallow because of the situation they found themselves in. So many times I wanted everything back the way it was, but I still thought it was interesting to see how the events in the book played out and affected their relationship.
I love that Clary is growing as a Shadowhunter in the second half of the series. She’s getting so much better and it’s awesome to see her succeed and find her element and be able to fight along side her Shadowhunter friends and family.
There were so many fun visuals in this book, especially of Magnus. Some of my favorite parts were the way the other characters described him. He’s so eccentric and I love waiting to see what he’ll wear next!
Just like with City of Fallen Angels, I loved being inside more than just Clary, Jace, and Simon’s heads. And, I especially loved the references to The Infernal Devices trilogy and getting to know Sebastian better, even if he was creepy. Sebastian gave me the hebejebes big time! But, I found myself wondering, like Clary, if he was really different. I knew deep down inside that he wasn’t, but Cassandra Clare did a great job of getting me to doubt myself and wonder.”
