A thoughtful little book on what we either choose to hide from ourselves, or what we are taught to deny ourselves, in the course of our development - sometimes, with catastrophic results. Robert Bly has a warm humanity that makes him easy to read even when he is being deeply reflective. His use of poems, or his own poetic prose, offer layers of insight. Those who enjoy this ought to try his more reknowned work, Iron John (A Book For Men), which is again concerned with psychological problems...
