Mr. William Waterman Sherman was an arithmetic teacher for a school of boys in San Francisco. After many years he got tired of being annoyed by people so he spent some of his time creating a huge balloon. He named this balloon the "Globe". His plan was to stay up in his balloon for one whole year alone. So after his balloon was complete, he set off across the Pacific Ocean. His trip went very well until a group of seagulls came along.
