The story definately kept me entertained. Although not my normal niche (I don't do a lot of 'who-done-it' type mysteries) I'd catagorize this thriller/drama as a keeper. I really loved the way I didn't immediately figure out how the story would end up resolving - that's always super annoying --...

That's not exactly true. I haven't read the entire book BUT I tried to! I thought it was terrible and I wasn't getting paid to be tortured - there are too many really good books to waste my time on anything less.

Down River is set in N. Carolina on a multi-generational farm along the Yadkin River. The river is like another character in this book.
Adam (protaganist) return to his home after being charged but never found guilty of murder.
Upon arrival, the bodies of two more men are found dead and he becomes # 1 suspect.
Knowing there is more to the story, he begins to dig further when the detectives & police have already settled on their suspect.

Twisted dysfuntional family to the MAX. Father dark secrets and and insane sister lead Adam on a goose chase.

I really loved the way I didn't immediately figure out how the story would end up resolving - that's always super annoying -- and how their were constant twists and evolutions in the story that kept me engaged. This was a great, easy beach read that left me putting the author's other books on hold at my local library.

this is turning out to be a favorite...family relationships/friendshis/love, ad a twenty year old murder mystery still needs to be solved. I will let you know what I think when I finish it...

Fantastic......Mystery, Suspense, Murder.....loved this book....lots of surprises at the end. :)

Adam Chase returns to North Carolina after five years and his acquittal of murder.

Little does he know that his troubles haven't disappeared and the mysteries of family members and friends is overwhelming.

He finds things out that he never knew...most of them not good. The characters pull you in and make you want to keep reading to find out what makes them "tick," what they are about, and what they are experiencing.

Excellent writing...I want to read more of his books.

Greed, lies. family feuds. A good mystery book but the last two chapters felt too much - IMO - like an explanation instead of a startling ending.

This was the first book I've read by this author. I thought it was well-written and I really liked the descriptions of Adam's hometown. I'll read another book by John Hart.
