Third book in the series. They seem to keep getting better. Strong women who push back respectfully and intelligently on pig-headed arrogant men. It's funny that it's written by a man...

Yet another delightful and funny read of life in Botswana, by Alexander McCall Smith of Edinburgh.

Lovely sentiments and a straightforward view of morality that we should all strive to follow.

See review under The Number One Ladies Detective Agency. Every book in the series is that good.

This book, the third in the series, is a little bit slower-paced than its two predecessors, but I liked the further development of Mma Makutsi's character and her growing confidence in her abilities. I'm also loving how tart-tongued and courageous Mma Ramotswe can be in stressful situations, like with the officious "government man." As with the other two books in this series, I listened to this one on audiobook with the usual narrator (Lisette Lecat), and now I'm pretty certain that I like them better via audio than I would on the page. The loveliness of Smith's writing comes across better aurally, I think, as if some gifted storyteller was relaying the tale.

A good book in a timeless series set in modern day Botswana. Filled with the general intrigue of everyday life.
