The book opens with an introduction of stumbling upon a boy who is savage and deprived of civilisation in manner,who is suspected to be brought up by lions, it has since put under the care of the orphan farm. A government man seek help from Mma Ramotswe to investigate the suspicion of his youngest brother's wife attempt to poison the brother, and the first time since Mma Ramotswe take residence in the crime scene and ended up being poisoned as well.
