My Amazon Review:
less than typical Romantic Suspense....., May 14, 2008
other reviewers have covered the storyline well, so I'll add just a few points.
1-almost no storyline-just jumping between the TWO couples interacting, or fighting, with each other. There was not enough story...

I got this book at the library again this month and was going along, thoroughly enjoying Quinn, Wolfe and Morgan and wondering why it was i never got to the sequel.
Then she appeared. The character Storm.
I don't know if she why she's so irritating...Maybe Ms. Hooper was trying to offset the way Quinn got the best of Morgan by having a female to get the best of Wolfe but so far she's annoying the heck out of me. I'm more for give and take with the sexes (which is why i prefer Tony/Ziva on NCIS rather than Tony/Kate. She ALWAYS got the best of him and it got old).
It's Quinn that's keeping me in this book so far and why I'll read the second one. He's definitely worth the aggravation of the Storm/Wolfe encounters.
**Storm got better...though i think the 'fix' of her and Wolfe's relationship was a bit fast. Looking forward to book two!

other reviewers have covered the storyline well, so I'll add just a few points.
1-almost no storyline-just jumping between the TWO couples interacting, or fighting, with each other. There was not enough story for one couple, much less two. Even with that, none of the characters worked together-they just argued, and then made out, of course.
2-inconsistencies-for supposedly modern, intelligent characters, the author has them doing implausible, immature actions. The biggest wrong move-the heroine-whose the exhibit curator, who says she'll do anything to protect the exhibit, but she immediately falls for the thief who plainly states he's going to ransack the exhibit? Save me from stupid heroines!
    not recommended-1.5 stars.

Originally, I had purchased the second novel, Always a Thief, in hardcover for a really great deal - $5(CDN) brand new, straight from Coles. It sat on my TBR shelf for nearly a year because i have this incurable need to read series' and such books in order. I finally managed to get my hands on this one without needing to order it, then felt this urgency to read it. And I'm glad I did! I thought the characters genuine and intuitive. I'm still trying to decide which was my fave and, laughingly, I'm leaning toward Bear, Storm's cat. But I liked Storm's straight-forward attitude as well as Morgan's thought process and everything about the 'infamous' Quinn. I liked the plot, what there was of it, knowing that it continued in the second novel. I thought it was well played. What really intrigued me was the play-by-play between the characters. Especially the deceit, the lies, the manipulations and the omittances of facts that were all twisted about that really pinned me to this book. I read them both in a day and a half. You can't help not being able to put this book down. The more lies and manipulations and the more truth you learn, the more you're pulled into reading. The descriptions are a sure way of learning who's who, what's what, and you get a real sense of the surroundings. I liked it!
