awesome book. It is slow to start; however, keep with it as it gets very intense and is a great read!

Let me warn anyone who is getting ready to read this book that the first hundred pages are difficult, but the pages that follow make plowing through the first part worth while. Jennings includes the history, myths, legends, culture, etc. of the Aztecs in this novel, which is well-researched. The writing style is also very good--time and again, characters resurface and events build on each other. It is an excellent book.

Great historical fiction on the Aztec nation. In the spirit of Michener's Texas.
Have to get through some graphic sexual content, but the historical accuracy is awesome.

Found this book at a garage sale, and I have to say it was certainly a challenge to read given that it nearly reaches 1000 pages, but this has to be one of the *best* Meso-America novels I have read to date. The details are unique and flavorful to the culture and values expressed in this book, and man, was there just so many parts to it that really felt like you were following the main character's like upon introduction to the very end. If you want something with a good amount of substance to it, I would suggest reading this.

One of my favourite books. Want to reread it, because I read it so long ago. Recommended by Uncle Tony.
