I can't say enough about Mr. Jennings works of historical fiction. Perhaps his son or Ken Follet will pick-up the torch for the deceased and sorely missed author... Jennings novels made real impressions on me, honing my interest in history into a near-fixation. I'll miss you sir!

Imagine Strolling through a Natural History museum, in the Central America aisle or section, and Everything comes to life in front of your eyes, behaving and living as they should!

This book literally made me queasy. The sexual violence and torture was more than I could stomach.

I've read Jenning's 1,000-page "Aztec" a dozen times in my life, more than any other book I believe, the first time being during my own 18-month backpacking trip down the length of Mexico and Central America. It served as my guidebook and even though it was difficult to wield I really couldn't put it down nor did I ever want it to end.
I find the ghost-written sequels to Aztec inferior and redundant, which is perhaps why I so embrace the original.
Despite the torrents of blood, and the blood-warming sexual scenes verging on a xxx-rating, I don't know of any other work that provides as much original research into Aztec history while being so delightful to read. This book really should be on the required reading list of every university course on Latino and ancient indigenous cultures.

ME--So glad you have read Aztec. Before we started our Mexican Adventures I read it, I particularly like Jenning's books. What did you especially like about this one? Marg
