I read this Junior novel because my daughter was attending a writers conference with this author. I REALLY enjoyed this book. I liked how the characters dealt with various adversities, great for me AND my kids to read.

Koby's family has been in transition since she lost part of her leg four years ago. Now it looks like the pressure is getting too much and her parents may separate. As she struggles to accept herself and her parents situation, she discovers two injured pilot whales. The lives of the whales are in her hands and she risks her own lives to say theirs.

This book was amazing with action and trouble of creature.Koby found a pilot whale that is actually a dolphin but it had a round head like a whale so it bit like a whale and a dolphin at the same time. The dolphin/whale was about to give birth to a calf/baby dolphin.Koby mother (paige) was about to leave her husband (dutch) to go live at a friends house.koby didn't want to go because she wanted to stay with her father.koby found the dolphin/whale skin peeled and can cleary see it meat and blubber. At the end,a hurricane named Lia and many people had to abandon their home because it was a peril storm.Koby and her family had survived the storm and the female dolphin too. Her family reunited and the female dolphin gave birth to a healthy young dolphin and both were released that same day.

A wonderful personal challenge book, some adventure, great determination and you can't leave without admiring the main character.

Koby is a girl who lost her leg and lives on a docked sail ship with her mom and dad. She is out in her dinghy she calls the Titmouse, When she finds a whale traped in a shrimp net and has to cut off the rope. This would have been easier if the whale hade not just given birth to a calf!
I was looking for books at my local library when I spoted this one. I had read spirit bear that was also written by Ben Mikaelsen, and thought it was extremly good. So I thought I'd try Stranded.
After reading it I thought this book was really good, and very suspenceful. I love animals, and have saved a few before, so I really connected with this book. I would reccomned this book to any one that loves animals or at least cares about there existance.
