  • Libby Harnishfeger Duggan: This would be a good book to read when doing a unit on life cycles. Students could talk about what they know about tadpoles and caterpillars which would be helpful for them when practicing the strategy of prediction when reading. I would want to point out to the class the way that the book is oriented and make some guesses about why the author and illustrator chose to make the pages turn in this way. I especially love the first page of this book, it sounds so literary. It might even be a good book to read aloud and share with students the way Jeanne Willis decided to begin her story.
