“I selected this book because it looked short. Also I read the first book to the series. I thought this book was a good chose also. I chose this book because I do not like long books and it was such a fast read it makes it so you will not want to put the book down. Once I got throw the first three chapters I could not put the book down. I also like advancer books. They make you guess what is going to happen next. I was on the edge of my seat the hold time I was reading the book. Some of the reason I chose the book is I don’t like reading but this was a good book I was glad I chose it. When he lost derrick I kept wondering when is he going to find him wear would he be. Also I got told it was a good book because one of my friends told me about. He said it was a good book and I was not disappointed. He likes the same types of books I do so I know it was a good book. That is why I chose the book The River During this book the main conflict was not hard to figure out. The main conflict was when derrick got hit by lightning and was in a coma. For half the story he is in a coma and Brian dose not no how to help him. Brian and derrick are sitting at the camp site and Brian remembered that derrick needs water but he can give him water he might choke. So Brian takes derrick down the river to a trading post. So he made a raft so he could go down the river. The river was faster than walking and would be easier. The raft was 3 by 3 feet. Brian travels for 2 days. Brian would rest every 10 minutes for 5 minutes. His skin had ripped off his hands from the wood on the raft. But he would not stop moving. They in countered a water fall and Brian and derrick went off the water fall. When they go off the water fall and Brian can find him. And he is still in a coma. He finally finds him unharmed and still alive. Then after a wile they find the trading post and they are rescued. During this book my most favorite part was when derrick gets hit by lighting. And going into a coma. Because it is the climax of the story. And they had to go down the river to the trading post. The trading post was 130 miles long from wear they started. The trip with out stopping would have took 1 ½ days to make it but he would stop every 10 minutes. I liked it also when he was going down the river. By the end of the story Brian past out because of being so tired he did not sleep for 3 days. The story just drops off. It ends with him passing out. So you don’t know if he lived or not. When he got struck by lightning Brian did not notice. When Brian woke up the saw him laying on his side with his eyes open breathing. The was breathing lightly. He did not know what to do so it took him 2 days to figured out to go down the river to the trading post he look at the map that derrick had it said the it was 100 miles away but it was 103 miles way and took longer than he thought.”
