I'm lucky enough to live close to the birthplace of the Natural Consequences Movement and as a result I took a few seminars when my daughter was 2 1/2 yrs. old. I used these principles to raise my daughter, who is now almost 16. Interestingly she has ADD, Tourette's Syndrome, OCD, and Sensory Perception Disorder. I don't know where we would've ended up without these concepts. None of her teachers ever knew she had these problems, in part, I believe, because she had a strong foundation of her own accountability. Though she was "hell on wheels" when she was younger, I stuck to the principles and now she's a calm, responsible, highly productive 10th grader whom adults praise and kids are drawn to.
Though it is completely opposite of the way most people have been raised, and very hard to let go of the CONTROL ISSUES, it's far healthier for the child (and parent) in the long run. I know many kids in this area who have been raised with the Natural Consequences idea and they give me hope for our future!!!
By the way, there is a Love and Logic Center in Golden, Colorado where you can take seminars and get materials. Just go to their website. Think it's www.loveandlogicinstitute.com
