“My Favorite of the series”

“I entered the Uglies series with this book, simply because I was given this one and none of the previous titles in the series. As a book by itself, I thought it was excellent, with interesting characters, a unique plot, and great sentence structure. Unfortunately, my ability to truly enjoy it was hampered by my lack of reading the first two books. The author did a poor job with reintroducing the characters, which made some parts of the book rather vague in my mind. Also, I was unable to understand some of the terms used in the book, because the author actually created several new words to use, keeping in pace with the futuristic setting of the text. All in all, however, I thought it was a great read, and I am looking forward to reading its prequels, as well as the final book in the series.”

“Very easy to read--I didn't really like how it kept me hanging at the end of the last book, but an entertaining story. Some of the characters were a little annoying, too, but I did like it. I wished things worked out better with David!!
