“I loved it. Not your typical vampire story. I know there were a lot of mixed reviews with this one but this is not your typical story with a girl that falls in love with a vampire. I guess why I liked it so much it was different. Nicole being stranded and off the road during a snow storm is spotted and taken to shelter by a total stranger which saved her life. Not knowing where she is or with how she learns that her savior is a recluse of a man who keeps to himself and away from the limelight. But,since her savior is very private about his life she doesn't know that he was a doctor in a previous life. He is a vampire who writes books about his previous life during the war turning fact into fiction that was based on his life spinning them into tales that end up on the best sellers list. Even though he has little contact with his guest which peaks Nicole's interest. But gradually he begins inter grading himself with her and is enjoying it even though he knows that it is dangerous and he might give himself away.Besides writing he has a passion for craving things out of wood and writing and horses etc not your typical vampire he is full of surprises. Before long a budding romance forms and you fall in love with a man you admired always wanted to meet , what more could a girl ask for ?But, when you think there is going to be a happy ever after you might want to think again....hummmmm what a surprise ending!”Joelle R wrote this review Tuesday, September 24, 2013. “Not as good as her other novels. The sex scenes were poorly written, but it was interesting nonetheless.”Melissa Kristine N wrote this review Sunday, September 9, 2012. ( reply | permalink ) Was this review helpful? Yes | No
“When Nicole's car runs off the road in the middle of a Colorado blizzard she finds herself rescued and stranded with Michael. He seems nice and is very handsome and oh, he's a vampire. Typical paranormal romance fare.”Iceangel9 wrote this review Tuesday, July 31, 2012. ( reply | permalink ) Was this review helpful? Yes | No
“Very good, and a pretty good ending, that was pretty sad...
But, this book was an adult one for reason....”
“A wonderful love story between a vampire and a human woman. i really like how this author managed to describe how the main character Michael is and can act like a beast. Mostly he was very compassionate but it seems as if it took him a long way to get there. Great fantasy read, but the setting is current and in the US (Colorado) and that really works good for me.”Raine wrote this review Saturday, November 26, 2011. “Meh. It was good but not spectacular. Quite interesting that there are literally only two characters.”Linsey wrote this review Thursday, November 24, 2011. ( reply | permalink ) Was this review helpful? Yes | No

I really enjoyed this book. In fact, I was sitting here thinking . . that over the past year (almost) I can only count 2 books that didn’t “tickle” my fancy. Does that mean I’m easy? Hmmmm. Well, on to THIS book!!!
The story that was told here, is one filled with mystery and a good ole dash of romance. We start the book and we get a good idea of who Nicole is . . but we don’t understand just what her secret is. We can feel the tension and we understand that there is something in her past that she is trying so hard to keep there, but we have no clue what it is. We then meet Michael, her knight in shining amour, there to rescue her from the bitter blizzard that is pounding her now wrecked rental car. Waking up in a strangers home, and getting mixed signals from this stranger; Nicole plans to just try her best to stay out of his way for the time she must remain in his home.
Michael fighting a battle within himself, life for him was fine . . just himself and his barn friends to keep him company. Now he has to deal with feelings he hasn’t felt in a very long time. Bouncing between wanting to keep his distance and wanting to feel that connection again, Michael finds that he is having the hardest time keeping his distance.
No longer able to stay away, Michael and Nicole start to talk . . learning more and more about each other, until both put the pieces together in one way or another about the others past. Unable to fight their attraction for one another they give in, but each has their own ending in mind. Nicole falling fast would love to find a way to stick around longer. Michael frightened that he wouldn’t be unable to control himself forever with her, wants her far away and safe. Who will win?
Warning: You may want to have a tissue handy when you come to the end. No matter how you want it to end, the end it has will make you tear up.
“A tumultuously emotional and intensely sensual reading experience!
Syrie James presents a deliciously romantic tale that readers will gobble up with great enthusiasm!
I really did not know what to expect from Nocturne. I am a sucker for PNR and there’s nothing that gets my motor running more than a strong, sensual, and debonair vampire who, regardless of the status quo, retains (or regains) his sense of humanity. Let’s face it, there may be many “bad azz” vamps ready to get our hearts a flutterin’, but there really aren’t that many who’ve managed to remain (or once again become) empathetic and compassionate despite the beast inside that wages a daily battle for supremacy.
Michael Tyler gives new meaning to living in solitude. Sequestered in the beautiful mountain range of the Colorado Rockies, his connection with the outside world is pretty much limited to telephone, internet and the few times a month his housekeeper, Jhania stops by. Anonymity and solitude are of the utmost importance to Michael; it’s the only lifestyle he feels he deserves and the only way he can protect the outside world from the beast that lies within.
Nicole Whitcomb is running from a few demons of her own. She’s not cut herself off from humanity, but now working as a Medical Claims Adjuster, she’s denied herself the one passion that had provided a sense of purpose and fulfillment, her position as a pediatric oncology nurse. Traveling home after enjoying a great weekend of fun and frivolity in Steamboat Springs, Nicole barely escapes the sudden onslaught of an avalanche; only to lose the battle for control with a spot of treacherous black ice.
With a gorgeous setting, solid characters, and a romance that will scatter your heart into a million pieces, Syrie James presents the kind of love story that everyone wants to read, but also the one that everyone wishes could have ended quite differently. Scrumptious, exciting and completely heart-wrenching, Nocturne will take readers on an emotional roller-coaster that will leave even the hardest of hearts in tears!
“Nicole Whitcomb was attending a ski themed wedding up in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. She decided to stay one extra day to hit the slopes, one last time. The radio reports that there is a huge storm approaching but Nicole should be at the airport before it is near her. Nicole is driving, when she hears a loud crack like the earth splitting and than a bunch of snow comes tumbling down the hill at Nicole. She runs off the road.
Michael Tyler is a hermit He was outside when he heard a car and than the avalanche. Michael lives out in the middle of no where, so unless he rescues whoever would be crazy enough to be out in this weather than it will be a long time before help arrives. Michael takes Nicole back to his cabin.
Nicole awakens to find herself stuck with a mysterious stranger. The roads are closed for several days. That would not be so bad if Michael did not have a secret that could kill her.
To be honest I had no idea that this book was a vampire novel. Not that I am complaining as I still would have read this one but I was expecting it to be more of a mystery type story. I enjoyed this book. Nicole and Michael were good together. For a story that takes about forbidden love, the romance was mild. Though, as I was reading this book, I could not keep from comparing Nicole and Michael to Belle and Beast from Beauty and the Beast. This is the type of love and relationship that best describes what Nicole and Michael shared. At times the story seemed to move in slow motion and I wanted it to speed up. I mean, there is only so much you can do and talk about when there are just two people in a cabin in the middle of nowhere and the one person keeps avoiding the other person. The ending was the best. I like that it was not the typical ending that you would come to expect from a vampire story. Nocturne is a book that you will want to read curled up in a blanket sitting by the fire.
