Becky and Toby are twins who live in Checkertown, Ohio. One day the library is having a book sale, 50 cents per book, paperbacks for 15 cents and children's books for 5 cents The day before the book sale, Becky asked if she could see the books. Mrs. Brattle, the librarian,would not let her see the books. The next morning, five books were missing! Mrs. Brattle blamed Becky for stealing Treasure Island, The Wind in the Willows, Winnie the Pooh, Through the Looking Glass and The Wizard of Oz. Later, the twins found out that the real thief was using maps in the books to find hidden treasure. Becky and Toby decide to find the real thief. One night Becky and Toby are in the library and they hear someone walking towards a mirror where something wrapped in green is hidden. They jump out and turn on the lights and catch the real thief, Mrs. Chesterton. The hiiden package was a rare copy of Alice in Wonderland worth $15,000. The book stayed in the library for the whole town to enjoy.
