“McDevitt is such a great scifi writer that even his less than brilliant works are still great. Cauldron is part of the Priscilla Hutchins series and should be read at the last as it reveals some secrets from earlier McDevitt books. The central theme of the story is the development of a new, faster star drive that "folds space" -- it is used to travel to the core of our galaxy where great mysteries are solved. Parts of this book are not as well developed as McDevitt's earlier books in this series, in my humble opinion, yet the book is still a pleasure to read.”
