I have a major crush on this cover
I just got a copy for review yesterday (I'm not certain how), but I've been seeing it around and saying 'That cover really rocks!" and the story sounds great too!
This is very reminiscent of 'The Handmaid's Tale' by Margaret Atwood... Thoughts?
Anyone have mixed feelings about this book like me? I liked it (with a sick fascination), but at the same time the characters bothered me... after all, my favorite character died!
I agree! I enjoyed the book but felt upset with it at the same time. There were glittering aspects of genius, but I never felt it really got rolling. yet, I'll probably still read the whole series :S
I had mixed emotions as well. I felt that if there was a scale for everything in this story, the author only strove to take it to 7. No matter what it was.
Yes! I actually put the book down a couple of times and wandered off feeling queasy. I think that's a sign of truly tremendous writing though, that you're so deep into an alternate world, your own universe is affected. I thought the characters were beautifully drawn, which might be why the unlikeable ones were so utterly detestable!
I actually just met this author! She was very sweet!
Did anyone even feel bad for Linden? For me, there were moments when I felt a little for him (like when Rose died, and he came into Rhine's room and cried all night, and when we discovered that he truly is clueless about the world around him) but those moments went away quickly. I mean, this guy: he says he loved Rose, but he moved on so quickly. And I know he was married to Cecily and Jenna, but still.. if he does love Rhine like he says he does, why would be be with them?!? I can't imagine acting the way he has, if I were in love with someone else!
I just didn't really care too much about him. When I first started reading, I kept an open mind about him (because I had read the summary and it says that he has "genuine love for her" but I quickly got over that! I don't think I ever truly liked him!
