This is a fiction but based on history, adventure book. It is the 4th book of the young samurai series and is a new chapter as Jack the protagonist goes out of Niten Ichi Ryu, the samurai school.
Jack in this book starts on his way to Nagasaki (the place where he has to go to get a ship) to go back to England, his home country. Since all foreigners who are in Japan are set to be caught and slaughtered. He meets all kinds of road blocks and as matters get worse with both samurais and ninjas searching to catch him, he must train as a ninja, his sworn enemies. At start he believes that ninjas are faceless assassins, but soon he learns to see from another perspective. However as the ending gets closer things start to go weird….As a new chapter, most of the characters that appeared in the other 3 books. However some of them appear in Jack’s flashback.
I think that if you have read all the others of the series, than this would definitely a great book, since it looks from another point of view and because the plot is very interesting and thought provoking. It might confuse you at the start but you can see how Jack changes by gaining knowledge and strength as he trains as a ninja. This book will definitely keep you reading and never let you stop until the end.
This book should be recommended to children over 10 and people who like adventure and action. Also the theme of this book (what I think) looking from another perspective changes who should read this book. Unlike the other books in this series there is a little bit more violence. So it would not be recommended to people who do not like or not allowed to read books with violence. I also think that it will be recommended more to boys than girls.
