Rushdie's first non-fiction captures the complexities of the sandanista-contra conflict through his intimate interactions with several key players. His powerful and poetic style illuminates the subtle and emotional facets of Nicaragua's political catastrophe. I recalled several moments of the book when I spent two weeks in Nicaragua.
