“Why they make high school and college students read Hemingway is beyond me. I read him then, and have never since been interested in picking up another of his novels. Thank God for "Midnight in Paris," a film which piqued my interest in this remarkable 20th century writer. I may even return to the novels I read nearly 30 years ago.
Hemingway's writing style is amazing. Somehow his words allowed me to tryly see and experience all that he did on the Italian front of WWI, in the Swiss Alps, etc. Beware, though, though exquisitely written, the book is also exquisitely sad.
