A famous writer's poignant look back to a time when it was all about the art. An aura of loss hangs over every page. Hemingway casts himself in the role of heroic young artist struggling to find his way to a new type of writing, and those who fall short of his ideals get it from Hem and get it...

How lucky I am to have been to Paris while still a relatively young man. How lucky I am to have been to Paris with Vicki. Luckier still to have been married to her for 20 years. Hemingway reminds me how important it is to do a good day's work, and to make both coffee part of the process and something stronger part of the day's end.

One of the best books about smack-talking.

I know it's cliché to love Hemingway, but this book is an absolute must read for anyone that loves to read or to write.

Luscious descriptions! One of of favorite books of all time. If I had to take 5 books to a desert island....this would be one.

I typically don't like Hemingway (and I am a Hemingway), but I enjoyed this. I love the time period (Europe in before WWII. I enjoyed how he talked about the relationships with his wife and lovers.

Neat to find out about authors Hemingway knew in Paris, especially F. Scott Fitzgerald.

It's just a lovely tour of Paris in the 20's with names dropping every where. I often think of Hemingway as reading children's books written for adults. Nice vacation book...
