Upset at her father for ignoring her after the death of her mother, Toots discovers an upside-down world in her ceiling. Whisked there by a Olive, a fat, cobweb-wielding house fairy, she becomes instrumental in helping the fairies defeat the evil Jack Frost, the sprites, and the house goblins.

  • Toots: Christened Charlotte, she lives with her widowed father. She is shy, feels neglected and loves the teddy bear (Fred) her mother gave her above all else.
  • Toots's Father: An obsessive stamp collector, he seems to have very little time for Toots. May have absentmindedly thrown out her bear, Fred.
  • Olive: A fat housefairy who mistakenly pulls Toots into the Upside Down world when witnessed by Toots standing on her head.
