Decipher is a mix of contemporary fantasy, mythology and science fiction, and that is my niche. I found the conclusion immensely intriguing, but I wasn't impressed by the style, and it felt a little bit like a regurgitation of someone else's story, but I just can't get enough of this mixed genre, and I enjoyed it a lot.

As a side-note, some of the description reminded me of Tom Clancy - I felt that they didn't bog down the story as much as some of Clancy's novels though, and that was a relief.

The exciting title tricked me as I read it,I found myself dissapointed by the overwhelming use of government matters. This story is hard to keep track of due to the incredible amount of names. Moreover, the book is unbelievably thick. But I would have to give Stel Pavlou a lot of credit as the story is very difficult to write and this is also his first novel.

A great novel for those interested in the Atlantean theories. Sometimes a little hard to understand because it jumps perspectives with each chapter but still worth the read.

"In a frozen Antarctic wasteland, in the depths of the Amazon River, in a chamber beneath the ruins of the Sphinx, something has surfaced: a cluster of crystalline artifacts composed of an energy source unknown to modern science and inscribed with ancient heiroglyphs. Between them a strange signal courses through the oceans, emanating from a source that has stunned mankind. The lost city of Atlantis has been found.

Now two of the world's most powerful armies stand on the brink of war to gain control of the most powerful force known to modern man. But a group of scientists struggling to decode the message of the primeval network fears that it is already too late.

Solar flares ignite the surface of the earth, and a worldwide cataclysm of biblical proportions begins. Now, as Atlantis rises, so do its secrets - along with a terrifying prophecy that is coming true."

This book has a great premise, but it gets bogged down in technical detail. The language is very scientific, and dull and hard to follow. I got a hundred pages into it and the plot was slow, the language was boring and I quit.

The only reason this gets a 3-star is because all of the information that Pavlou brings together, and how he brings it together, is very fascinating and freakishly plausible. The science is very heavy, which I love, but the plot, characters, and most other things in this book suffer. The climax is rather ridiculous, even though the concepts throughout are fascinating. Recommended only if you like freaky science pulled together to spell out the end of the world and don't read it for the story itself. Either way, I'll be happy to survive 2012.

After reading this book I sort of feel that I just sat through a really long science, mythology, and physics class. The facts were interesting enough to keep me reading but the actual story lacked a little bit. Still a good read.

The craziest, insane, best book ever. If you like fiction and non fiction together. This book will really make you think about who we are and where are we really going as humans.

This book is currently number one on my list of fave books. I love the brainy bits, the mythical bits, the action...I became so engrossed in all the different genesis myths that I was beginning to hope that there really was a book by a Dr. Scott about all those myths...hahaha...I highly recommend this book to anyone that loves to gain tangy new knowledge...
