This novel has one of the best plots of the Wallander series. It has the right mix of international intrigue and gritty crime suspense. It is a great novel without any further qualification, but as Mankell's final Kurt Wallander novel is is moving and satisfying. The foreshadowing is present throughout, but be prepared for the tear-jerker ending.”
