Good start to a YA fantasy series with a boy/girl team trying to save an alternate universe. This should appeal to Rick Riordan fans. I will recommend it to my stronger readers since there is some really tricky vocabulary.

Beyonders, though a little repetitive, was quite a nice book. I enjoyed its creativity, and it had very interesting characters. Action packed and magical, Beyonders took me on a fantastic voyage.

I loved it! Fablehaven is still my favorite, but I am hooked with this one. It took a little longer to get me hooked though. Can't wait for the next one!

The story begins where the prince is caught and blinded by his enemy, he utters a WORD, his quest fails.
Jason is sucked to another world through a hippo. He is given a quest to find the world and become the hero, to go back home. He is paired with another beyonder Rachel. They have to go through many trails and dangerous places to find the parts of the word.

In the end Jason is captured, he utters the WORD. The word doesn't destroy Maldor.

I can't wait for the next installment

Jason gets sent to another world when he is swallowed by a hippopotamus. He finds himself in a magical medieval world where a wicked ruler is making life miserable for all. Given the task of finding the magical word that will destroy Maldor, Jason and Rachel, another Beyonder, set off on an adventure they'd never have in Colorado.
