“I miss Jamie and Claire, that is all there is to it. This book especially brought back all those feelings of Jamie and Claire, first together, then apart, and then together again. It was a little too wordy in my opinion for a Lord John novel and didn't focus nearly enough on Lord John. I have enjoyed this spin off series because it is a little bit easier to read, a little bit different tone, and a different perspective on Lord John. This book, I hate to even say this, had too much Jamie in it. It didn't feel like a Lord John novel, it read like an Outlander novella (which is saying something since it is five hundred pages long). Overall, I enjoyed the read, it was definitely a good plot, my nitpicky-ness is somewhat unfair as it is entirely based on my emotional connections to her books and not her skill as an author, but these are my feelings none-the-less.”
