However, her organization leaves something to be desired as many of the people profiled get mentioned again and again, without necessarily having a new anecdote each time. “A very easy read. I enjoyed reading about all the mistresses and I liked knowing how they treated their kings and queens and how they were treated by the court in return. ”

It has some interesting stuff, but it's kind of repetitive after a while. I feel like there could have been more done with it I guess.”

A history of European royal mistresses since the middle ages, Sex with Kings gives you history from a different perspective. It was informative and mildly entertaining. The writing was a bit dry considering how much passion you could infuse into the subject matter. The lay out of the information in the book was also bit tedious. It is not chronological, but rather written by topic. The same mistresses are discussed in multiple places throughout the book which made it a bit difficult to keep track if you weren't already familiar with the King/mistress at hand. It would probably receive a better rating from someone that already knew this 500 year history quite well.

“Cute idea, but kind of dry. Seems like it would be fun but is really borring.”
