“This book has a great premise but I kept waiting for the plot to follow through with what could have really happened in our country.
I was completely unsatisfied with the ending. ”
“Erg interessant boek. Geeft je een heel andere kijk op de wereld die Amerika heet, ten tijde van de tweede wereldoorlog. In het Nederlands: 'Het complot tegen Amerika'. Philip Roth is de enige schrijver wiens boeken bij leven zijn opgenomen in de Amerikaanse literaire bibliotheek!”

And sure, the young fictional Philip Roth IS a little too erudite in his reflections on what's going on around him, but hey, it IS Philip Roth--or could have been, I guess, if America had voted for Lindbergh instead of war.”

Anyway, The Plot Against America was a ridiculously sturdy, buy I guess when you're Roth, who's put out like 30 books, most of them major award winners, you should have this novel shit down by now. And he does. More Roth books are on their way to my place.”

Any book that takes a look at a significant point in history and asks the question "What if?" is on my must-read list!”
“This book completely freaked me out. I was engrossed and mortified by the "what if" scenario of Charles Lindbergh as president and how the world would have looked in that light. ”

I found it to be very slow, very boring, and the prose didn't fit with the character. It was supposed to be told from the POV of an 8 year old, but it was far more complex than even a literary 8 year old. the book asks "What if Charles Lindburgh was elected President?" What could have been an interesting look at what would have happened had the Nazi influence taken over the States, just never materialized. About the closest it comes is a vaguely anti-Semetic episode in a cafeteria. ”
