A cute read after going on a Jane Austen kick lately. Not my usual reading material but a nice break from heavier stuff. Certainly true Janeites would balk at most descriptions of fanaticism with Pride and Prejudice ...

Fairly stupid. The main character's life mirrors Pride & Prejudice while on a Jane Austen Literary Tour in England. Instead of Mr. Darcy, she meets Spike, a journalist writing a piece on women who love Mr. Darcy.
On a weird fantasy twist, our heroine also encounters the real Mr. Darcy several...

"So we had a drink each and shared a pizza, but you asked for two extra toppings on your half, which means you owe...Hang on a minute, I've got a calculator on my BlackBerry..." Talk about a romantic “Once upon a time” onset...Check please! Emily Albright is officially done with love after yet another miserable rendezvous with Mr. Wrong and can you blame her? When every girl dreams of Mr. Darcy and finds Ebenezer Scrooge love loses its charm. This is definitely a book anyone searching for “The One” can relate to. Hilariously charming as the stuff dreams are made of gets schooled in reality 101. Loved the authors approach as I see many of Emily’s characteristics reflected not only in me, but in many of the women I know. I feel the ending is realistic and true to form in this modern age we live in, which makes falling in love with the story and its characters so effortless.
    FYI
Still hopelessly, unquestionably, inevitably, irreversibly Darcy’s groupie

This was entertaining enough. Though it is to a book what chic flick is to movies.

Believe me..I dont want to criticize this book, written by a fellow Darcy-lover and Austen fan..but sadly, the story doesnt leave much to desire.

Every woman wants Mr.Darcy, every woman likes to read a novel to do with Mr.Darcy-which is a sad thing, considering how many writers NEVER get it right. The story is predictable to the core.

And when the characters start using the same sentences that Mr.Darcy and Lizzie use, you know you've had enough.Which is again, a pity, because you can write a much better novel out of the I'm-madly-in-love-with-Mr.Darcy-who-doesnt-even-exist premise.

And also the author ought to realise that calling Mathew Macfadyen "gorgeous" and Colin Firth "amazing" and making Miss.Steane..well..(what the author seems to consider a "surprise", though not to me..but let me not "spoil" it for you) is not enough to make a book likeable.Though agreed, Matthew Macfadyen is totally gorgeous.

You know perfectly well whats going to happen in the story..and you cant help but wonder"Why am I even reading this?"

And Alexandra Potter, here's the answer in one word: Mr.Darcy.

That name conjures images of romance, chivalry, honour and love..and that I repeat is the only reason for me to finish the book.

There's another reason-this quote by Jane Austen:
To you I shall say, as I have often said before,
‘do not be in a hurry, the right man will come at last.’

My two stars in the rating are only for these reasons.

This book was strange. The story could have been good if it had been executed right, but it was not in depth enough. It was just weird, instead of intriguing. But, in an odd way, I could not stop reading it. It was well written, the story was just lacking.

The only reason I'm not giving this five full stars is that there are a lot of chick lit cliche's in this story and the author cops out on the explanation for why Mr. Darcy is even there which annoyed me. Other then that, it's a fun story for any Jane Austen fan. The descriptions are great, Emily is funny and not overly annoying, and Spike...I love Spike. I would so date him.
I also liked that this book pointed out that while fantasies are great, real life guys and girls are far more satisfying (and in many ways much more entertaining).

This funny quirky book is a good companion to all of Jane Austen's novels. Alexandra potter creates a life that any Austen fan would hope to fall into. It's a great read, very quick and easy.

A weak play of Pride & Prejudice, too bad I'm a sucker for that
