After hearing about this text, its concepts, and excepts from it by a friend, he recently provided a copy for me. I have now read the text. The extended title is accurate - this is a history of the various information systems, a summary of how this fits together, and our current significant amount of information that we have readily available. I for one am not overwhelmed with the volume of information, rather noticed the great lack of quality information - more is not better. Most of what is available is marginally useful, hence a bit more filtering is necessary to separate the wheat from the chaff. Fortunately, the chaff just blows away in the wind.
