“Introverts and their strengths / weaknesses. Anecdotal in the extreme.”Jerry W wrote this review Monday, October 21, 2013. ( reply | permalink ) Was this review helpful? Yes | No
“I can't even explain why this book struck me so powerfully, but it was so encouraging to be shown that introverts have an essential function in society. Fantastic details, examples, and writing.
P.S. The audio version is read beautifully. ”
“Very insightful. Reveals fascinating and validating differences between Western and Eastern culture and what is valued in each. Good knowing that there is a scale. Good to know that it is natural to adopt behaviors in different situations. This was very affirming as an introvert. Helpful for teachers and parents as well.”George wrote this review Tuesday, October 8, 2013. ( reply | permalink ) Was this review helpful? Yes | No

“As a dyed-in-the-wool extrovert, I was not the target audience for this book. The author is clearly writing to encourage fellow introverts that their qualities are valuable in a world that does not validate them. However, I did find that this book makes a very good case for protecting "solitude."
The only difficulty I had with this book is that it was clear that the author did not interview many extroverts when she was preparing to write this book. Whenever she found fellow introverts with a particular quality, she automatically attributed that quality to introverts--without examining to see if the quality applied to extroverts as well. Her generalizations about introverts and extroverts and her leaps of logic distracted me at times from what was an otherwise important message: Society does not allow for solitude (or "quiet"), and that loss will cost us.
Readers who can see past the author's generalizations will enjoy the studies the author has collected, and introverts will be encouraged by this book.”

“Some books are hard to put down. This one, not so much. I found the content repetitive and gave up 3/4 of the way through. ”Mary Nitsch wrote this review Tuesday, September 17, 2013. ( reply | permalink ) Was this review helpful? Yes | No

“Good book for quiet people. Helps us understand ourselves a little more. I would welcome a student version of this book.”Diane Brown wrote this review Wednesday, September 4, 2013. ( reply | permalink ) Was this review helpful? Yes | No
“I know a few who would benefit from reading this book and hopefully adjust their viewpoint. Rather than trying to "help" people come "out their shell", let's recognise, and embrace, introverts to correct an imbalance, that is pervading business and society, of an ever increasing, ill considered, soundbite driven, 'loudest wins'' behaviour that is worringly, generally accepted as aspirational.”Paul Callaghan wrote this review Monday, September 2, 2013.
