“Well-crafted mystery-adventure in the northern Canadian wilderness of the 1860s. Kept me engaged from the murder that sets the plot in motion to the denoument in the depths of winter. The main characters are well-drawn and complex. Thoroughly enjoyable and quite a page-turner.

“I thought this was a very original and well-written novel. The setting was unique and well drawn. I was very interested in all the characters, and kept thinking about this book after I was finished. The fact that it's a mystery seems secondary to the character study it presents. An excellent read!”

I was a little disappointed by how little emphasis was put on the relationship, but still the plot and writing was enough to keep me interested which is usually quite a feat. ”
