A general, yet thorough overview of the goal of parenting and then a brief examination of the three main stages of parenting: pre-school, school age, and teenagers. Practical and biblically based concepts throughout. Well worth the read. I would like to have seen a little more detail about how someone who was just starting with biblical based parenting who already had teens might practically be able to "catch up." The implication is that it was possible, but this particular book didn't delve too deeply into it.

This is an excellent book on shepherding a child's heart. After all it is truly the heart that we want change in not only in the attitude. Definitely a great book to keep to look back to when needed. Great advice and gives you a different perspective in how you might be parenting now.

I hope I can implement all this things this book offers. I was at a womens conference where Kirk Cameron spoke and he and his wife do this same study with thier kids and jokingly called it Shepherding a Parents Heart. I got it from Amazon with the videos when I got home and it's totally dated but useful information.

Only partially through this book, but am amazed how it has already begun to help me think through everyday situations.

Ash and I are reading this together and it is a very good intro into seeing God's plan behind raising your children.

I would definitely suggest this book to new parents. (and even not so new parents) I appreciate the authors perspectives on placing our focus as parents on leading their hearts towards God rather than trying to control their outward actions. I disagree with his views on spanking. I believe you can correct and guide a child towards choosing what is right without instilling the fear of physical punishment.
