A good, easy to read, clean love story. I enjoyed it, as I have enjoyed all her books.

Meg Collins was an old-fashioned country girl facing an uncertain future. Now that the family house was being sold, Meg had to find a job. But where? Her skills were in cooking and gardening-- not shorthand and typing.

Professor Ralph Culver offered a solution. The eminent doctor needed a "sensible, domestic person" to work in his London office. Someone like Meg.

But it wasn't very sensible to fall in love with the professor. Or to hope that he would fall in love with her, too...

SUCH A GOOD IDEA...FROM THE MASTER OF THE HOUSE. Meg was an old-fashioned girl. She'd been happy to stay quietly at home, looking after her invalid mother. Now the family home was up for sale. Things looked bleak until the new owner of the house Ralph Culver, offered an ideal solution; Meg could stay on as his housekeeper. Meg found her employer was a difficult man to understand. But he was an easy man to love, even if there was no hope of being loved in return...

This Neels story deviates slightly as rich, good-looking Doctor Ralph Culver is British, while plain, kind, unskilled Meg Collins cared for her mother until her death. Conflict is provided by three very selfish, manipulative beauties, Ralph's girlfriend (?) and Meg's two sisters - three women anyone would love to hate. Throughout the story Ralph doesn't understand his attraction to Meg and fights it. As the story unfolds one wonders who rescues who; and if a relationship develops, who gains more?
Nasty sisters.

Typical Betty Neels story. This one has 2 sisters you just love to hate. Ralph is a doctor, Meg is plain and has no skills. If you read Betty Neels, this is for you
