Glad he wrote another. Can't wait for the next one. I still like The Eyre Affair best. Nothing beats the original.

I was anticipating this summer 07 release just about as much as another one (cough*HP*cough)...this one lost only by a little bit and was just as enjoyable as the other. In Next Among Sequels Thursday is a bit older, somewhat wiser, and the parent of an extremely dodgy teenager in the real world. In the Book World, Thursday is now training new recruits, most of which just happen to be the Book World versions of herself.

Just as exciting as TN 1-4 and excellent because it skips that annoying "younger child" phase in any book series. I literally laughed out loud throughout the entire book.

Fforde keeps this entertaining series going with First Among Sequels and it's probably my favorite one yet. It's witty, it's funny and we get to experience three different Thursday Next characters! Highly recommended... (Originally posted on powells.com)

I agree this one was harder to read than previous Thursday novels but I'm amazed he can still pull this off and hasn't run out of ideas. There were so many clever elements in this one and I really thought at the end he was going to wrap things up so that there wouldn't be any sequels. So glad I was wrong! I love the Nursery Crimes series too. Hard to say which is better.

This book was just too funny. I loved all the references to other books and especially loved that fact that I got the references. That's always so rewarding. Looking forward to more TN adventures.

Another very clever and witty Fforde - not one of the easiest reads, though. A bit too cerebral for easy escapism, and too much like the others to keep me going just for the fun of Fforde's wonderful imagination and social comment.
Very slow in getting on the way, and I was seriously p.. off by the "cliffhanger" ending.

I agree with others who said this one was very convoluted. Anytime I read a Thursday Next novel I know I am in for convoluted and I look forward to it. The only problem with this one was a bit of a slow start (oh and i wasn't thrilled with the illustrations) but finally picked up about halfway through.

I have really enjoyed the other Thursday Next books, but felt in this one that Fforde was trying too hard to be bright and witty and so clever that the result is really brittle, especially the beginning where Landon and Thursday are bantering like some 40's movie team. i think his Nursery Crimes books are better at this point.

Funny as Fforde always is, but somewhat convoluted. The plot and its elements made me scratch my head several times. It was hilarious to have the three Thursdays feeding off each other! I have liked his other books better but it was nice to have something new to read from the best author ever, except for maybe J.K....where's my autograph book.....
