- Valéry: Main character and narrator. He is an 800 year old vampire, born in the Provence region of France. In 1997 Philadelphia, he meets a young mortal woman who will change everything he thought he knew as truth.
- Angelina: A mysterious mortal girl who knows everything about Valéry.
- Angelina Lacroix: A mysterious mortal woman who seems to know everything about Valéry. Valéry becomes obsessed with learning how she has come by her knowledge of him and immortality.
- Michel: A vampire made by Valéry during the French Revolution, Valéry considers him his "greatest sin" because he believes Michel is the only vampire he has made for purely selfish reasons.
- Nicolò: A vampire who has known Valéry for most of his existence. Valéry considers him his nemesis as Nicolò has seemingly tried to hurt him in the past, for reasons Valéry doesn't understand.
- Jules: Valéry's cousin.
- Trista: Add a description of this character.
- Sabina: A girl made immortal by Valéry in the 1800's, who was murdered shortly afterwards.
- Sebastian: A young man who was part of the Children's Crusade of 1212 alongside Valéry.
- Valérien: Also known as Valéry. 800 year old vampire and the story's narrator.

This story takes place predominantly in Philadelphia, PA, where Valéry presently lives and meets Angelina. The two eventually journey together from Philadelphia to New York to Valéry's birthplace in the mountains of Provence, France.
