This is a fabulous historical fiction novel, that has intrigue, romance, drama, suspense and lots of beautiful writing. It's been a decade or so, since I've read Bradford's books. It's all about a family line of keeping the business in the family name for having a heir from 1900s to the 1970s.

This book was so disjointed. BTB spent most of the book on 10 years and then jumped ahead 43 years. I wanted to know more about the lives of the characters during those 43 years. All we got was a brief synopsis. It was almost like the editor said, "too long" and they just cut out most of the book. I can't even imagine what the 3rd book in this triogy will be like.
