Emma McAvoy was abused by her mother, rescued by her rock singer father and leading a wonderful life with a step-mother who loved her and a brother she adored. Then someone killed her baby brother, Darren. The police thought it was a kidnapping that had gone wrong. Emma had gone into Darren's room, but doesn't remember anything except monsters. The incident destroyed her happy life. Bev and Brian, Emma's father and step-mother separate; Brian hires bodyguards for Emma and sends her to a Catholic boarding school.
