Very nice book with the exception of the final 300 pages that are really boring

Another lengthy novel by acclaimed author Tom Clancy. Following up on the airplane terrorist attack against Congress (pre-9/11), President Jack Ryan faces numerous struggles while rebuilding the government. In a gripping adventure that takes the reader from American to the Middle East and beyond, Tom Clancy weaves together a complex storyline of military action and international intrigue that ends in a satisfying climax. After reading Executive Orders, I'm convinced that President Jack Ryan would outshine any presidential candidate running today. Then again, it is a non-fiction.

I understand why people would give up on this book at first...but I stuck with it, and it was great. I don't know why they didn't make this one a movie.

I have a personal policy of reading at least 100 pages in a book before I give up on it. LIfe's too short to be bogged down by a book I don't like. I got more than halfway through this 800+ page book before I gave up and put it back on the shelf. I enjoy Clancy’s Op-Center and NetForce books. Maybe there’s something about authors who try to spin a huge story that they repeat themselves and get bogged down. I never want to read another huge novel by Clancy again.
