I enjoyed reading this book. I had been looking for a biography of the Buddha for some time. It's a good account of his life. However, i would still like to read something more detailed about his insights, how he achieved them and how he explained them to his contemporaries.

    Any suggestions? suggested readings??

This is the story of the historical Bhudha. Beautifully recounted by Thich Nhat Hanh with loving detail, we witness the deeds and actions of one odd duck. From Deer Park to Vulture Peak and back again, that old Shakyamuni did incomprehensible acts. Such as, giving station to women, in an area of the world where that idea has yet to take hold, even in this present day. Hmm... The pen and ink illustrations are wonderfully captivating as well.

Absolute Treasure! A different perspective on Buddha's life. One that makes more sense to me. Written in that beautiful flowing style characteristic of Thich Nhat Hanh. It influenced my thinking as I was reading it. Left me with a feeling of serenity & the hope that I too can eliminate sorrow from my life. This is a book that needs to be read again & again.
