This fantastic book by Wayne Thomas Batson is the first part of the Door Within Trilogy. It starts off in Colorado, where Aidan Thomas has just moved from Maryland with his parents. He had a friend in Maryland named Robby Pierson, who moved there from Florida. Once Robby (who was "so cool") had befriended Aidan, he was accepted at his high school. At Grampin's house in Colorado, where he moved, he decided to search the basement for something to do. While he was in the basement, in a flash of light, three tall clay pots appear which contain three scrolls. They contain the story of a kingdom called Allebelle, a king, and a treacherous knight with aspirations to be king. Aidan finds he is being called by the king of Allebelle to become the twelfth knight in a special mission to ally kingdoms with Allebelle.

I'm not going to tell you the rest, because I want you to pick it up and read it! The first time I read it (This was the first time any of Wayne Thomas Batson's ever was read by any of our family) I was in the car on the way to North Carolina, and I could not put it (or The Rise Of the Worm Lord, the second book in the series) down for more than five seconds at a time! That copy that my mom just picked out for me by chance is now really tattered and worn from all the times I've read it! I hope you enjoy it as much as I did (and do!).
