This is a different kind of book because of her life. I think it was interesting to know her father was aa alcoholic and sah has such a different life. I didn't like how it was a little more in depeth in the end.

Samantha's dad is a drunk. Her mother seems to think that breathing solves everything. Luke her 4-year brother is just a happy energetic boy. Samantha seeks help to an unexpected person named Juliet but it ends up that the 'shelving guy' has been reading her letters and even been responding. An unexpected accident occurs when Samantha and Luke are home alone with their dad. While Luke is dancing to some loud music his father suddenly appears angry. Drunk and furious he bashes his beer bottle to Luke's head and causes a scar he will have for life. Shelving guy seems to really help Samantha though she thinks its a high school girl responding she doesn't expect to see her library's shelving guy in the meeting spot they planned when Samantha needs him the most. In the end 'shelving guy' or Alex helps Samantha see her life in a different perspective and even helps her forgive her father after what he has caused. I think this book was good and reccomned all to read!!!

LOVED IT!!! I showed a normal teenaged girl struggling with her dad's addiction. I love how it's fiction but is probably happening to hundreds of people right now.

Drinking doesn't only effect you it effects the people around you. Sam's dad comes home every night drunk and worries her and her brother. When the daughter Sam stays the night at a friennds house and worries about her brother hoping her dad doesn't come home druck and do anything to hurt him.
My friend will be at my house and her dad drinks and she always worries about her sister back at home. Hoping her dad doesn't come home drunk.
I think Natasha Friend wrote this book to show there are familes out there that have mom and dads that drink.
