Calico Captive is a great book if you're looking for captivating historical ficton. A young girl's struggle to survive after being taken captive by Indians during the French and Indian War. Just when she started thinking that her life would forever consist of the horrors of slavery, hope flickered at the end of the tunnel. This book is hard to set down once you've started reading. =)

This is one of the nicest stories ever. I couldn't form an opinion of French society during that time period, and I wasn't sure if Miriam should have chosen Phineas over Pierre. But I'm glad she stuck to her true beliefs.
