“Quite the little page-turner! Set in the 10th century Caucasus kaganate of Khazaria, this picaresque novel describes how two 'gentlemen of the road' (i.e., thieves and adventurers) suddenly find themselves not only enmeshed in, but at the very heart of, a power struggle for the throne (well, tripod, actually...but then, the Khazars always did do things differently). Well worth spending a few hours reading.”
